Many attractions and events await your visit to Mangum & Greer County. The “Old Greer County Museum” contains artifacts dating back to the settlement of 1884. The “Hall of Fame”, honoring pioneers who were here before 1907, including a replica of a half dug-out pioneers dug when they first came to Old Greer County and a completely restored 1928 Seagrave fire truck. “Gone but not Forgotten” is the official name of the Veterans Memorial Wall dedicated to all who gave their life in wars in the 20th century. In Granite, a 28’ x 30’ bust of Will Rogers stands at the foot of the Wichita Mountains. Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area maintains 19,000 rugged acres for hunting, fishing, wildlife watching, primitive camping, hiking, equestrian trails and mountain biking. The beautifully restored passenger coaches of Farmrail recreate the old-time experience of riding the “Quartz Mountain Flyer” train in modern air-conditioned comfort. Annual events include: the Rattlesnake Derby & Flea Market, Mangum Mounties Rodeo & Pioneer Reunion, Antique Car Show & Citywide Garage Sale, Hometown Christmas, Independence Day Celebrations, county fairs and livestock shows. |
