My name is Will Sanders and I was born in the Netherlands.
Our son Willem was an Exchange Student in Altus Oklahoma in 2004. After graduation on the High School in Altus he went back to the Netherlands and studied International Business on the University of Tilburg. Right now he studies Strategic Management on the same University for his Master’s degree. He would like to live and work in the U.S. when he is finished. This was for my wife An and me the reason to search for a holiday stay and a starting point for our son. But the end result is that we are living in Mangum Oklahoma near Altus and run a Bed and Breakfast while our son is living in our house in the Netherlands.
He wants to come over to the U.S. after his study and then we will sell the house in the Netherlands because we would like to stay in the U.S. too.
So in a nutshell this is the story and explains what the effect can be if a child has a good experience in another country. It changed our lives completely.
After almost 5 years we still have a good contact with our sons Exchange host family.
With this experience, I think it will be nice to be a Local Exchange Student Coordinator and help students to have a great time in America. |
